Serving the elementary pupils in Cotabato City and the nearby towns and municipalities since its opening in 1954, Notre Dame University- Elementary Training Department has produced graduates who are locally and globally competent.
NDU-ETD, as it is popularly known, was established purposely as laboratory school for students of the then Teacher Training College of the university now the College of Education. Enrolment was initially limited to boys. However, due to parentsโ requests, girls were admitted in school year 1978. More sections were opened and eventually Kindergarten classes opened in 1986.
Now, on its 68th year, NDU-ETD continues to mold and produce persons who are equipped with the basic skills and competence as prescribed by the Department of Education in the K-12 Curriculum.
The intensive reading program for kindergarten pupils prepares them for the elementary level. ETD offers Islamic subjects, a unique and special feature offered for Muslim pupils, and Religion subject for the Catholics.
Though the occurrence of the pandemic affected the enrolment for School Year 2020-2021, it did not stop NDU-ETD to continue the delivery of instruction. A new mode is used, the distance learning; online and modular modalities. Its operations continue along with all the programs and activities of the school like the monthly activities mandated by the Department of Education, mostly, virtually.
We believe that education must not stop, and that there are ways we can do through what technology can offer.

MODE of TEACHING – Online (Synchronous and Asynchronous) and Modular
With the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic, NDU-ETD with its desire to continue the delivery of instruction to pupils backed up by the administration, adapted a new mode of learning; distance learning. This modality of teaching has made learning in the comfort of the homes possible. Pupils may attend to classes conducted online and answer modules that are prepared by their teachers.
Since NDU-ETD believes in the capacities of its learners, regular school activities programmed to develop pupils wholly, were offered through online mode. Developing of 21st century skills are still priority in instruction.
With the help of technology co-curricular pursuits are still achieved. Annual endeavors like the recollections for pupils, retreats, symposia, parenting seminar, leadership training, ETD festival, English and Language week, SciCoMath Week, UN Day/ AP week, Teachersโ Day, Ramadhan, Christmas, First Communion for the third grade and the Confirmation for the Grade six pupils and graduation are conducted.
Regular kumustahan with the pupils and parents, coaching and mentoring are done to help pupils with their learning. The spirit of giving is integrated in the community extension program of the school.
